JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State University Lady Tiger volleyball team had reason to celebrate Tuesday night, hosting Senior Night and sweeping the Alabama State University Lady Hornets, 3-0, in front of an announced crowd of 130 fans.

Seniors Kimberly Hendon, Corrina Cox, Nicole Walker, Brittany Lewis and Amanda Daniels were honored during intermission of the second game and given framed jerseys as mementos for their dedication to the team.

The Lady Tigers dominated the first game and easily won 30-18.

The second game was a much closer contest as JSU jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead. The Lady Hornets rallied and took the lead, 8-10 before the Lady Tigers scored eight unanswered points to make the score 16-10. Alabama State finally answered and went on a 10-5 run to bring the score to within one, 21-20. The Lady Tigers ended game two with a final run, and clinching the win with a score of 30-26.

In game three, the Lady Tigers again jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead in a game that appeared to be a sure win. The Lady Hornets then answered with their own 11-3 run to pull the score to within one, 14-13.

What seemed to be a close game quickly turned around for the Lady Tigers as they outscored Alabama State 16-8 in the final minutes of the game. JSU prevailed, 30-21 to complete the sweep over the Lady Hornets.

Keesha Duminie led the Lady Tigers with 10 kills on 19 attacks four digs, and four blocks. Nicole Walker tallied nine kills, five digs and two blocks, and Amanda Daniels with seven kills and five blocks for the Lady Tigers. Corrina Cox had 20 assists.

Leading the way for the Lady Hornets was senior Arieon Trinity with six kills.

The Jackson State University Lady Tiger volleyball team wrap-up their home schedule Thursday as they play host to Lady Braves of Alcorn State University. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
