JACKSON, Miss. - The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced the teams and match ups for the 2007 SWAC Softball Tournament, which will be played in Baton Rouge, La April 25-29.

After taking two games of a three game series from Mississippi Valley State, the SWAC Eastern Division leader, the Lady Tigers secured their chance to play in the tournament. The top three teams from the Eastern Division along with the top three teams from the Western Division will travel to Baton Rouge for the four-day event. All action in the double-elimination tournament will take place on the campus of Southern University. Opening round competition will begin April 26 and all games lead to the championship game at 11 am on April 29.

Mississippi Valley State clinched the top seed from the Eastern Division with a 14-4 conference record. Alabama A&M and Jackson State each carry 11-7 conference marks into the tournament; conference tiebreaker policy awarded the Lady Tigers the second seed and the Lady Bulldogs the third seed.

In the Western Division, Southern tallied a 12-6 conference record and will serve as the number one seed from that division. Texas Southern captured the number two seed while Arkansas-Pine Bluff earned the number three seed.

Opening round play on Thursday, April 26 will pit Alabama A&M versus Texas Southern at 1 pm followed by Arkansas-Pine Bluff versus Jackson State at 3:30 pm. Mississippi Valley and Southern will receive byes and will be in action on Friday.
