BATON ROUGE, La. - Coming off a big win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the first round of the 2007 Southwestern Athletic Conference softball tournament, the JSU Lady Tigers fell 3-2 to Southern in today's quarter-final game. The Lady Jaguars came from behind to beat the Lady Tigers and advance to tomorrow's semifinal game. Ebony Stevenson and Alexandria Adversalo each scored a run for Jackson State, with Adversalo driving in both of the Lady Tigers' runs with a two-run blast in the top of the third inning. For Southern, Courtney Chappell went 2-of-3 from the plate while scoring one run and driving in another. Denean Woods and Jasmone Williams each scored a run for the Jaguars. Southern would crack into the scoring column when Williams reached on an error and then was moved over into scoring position by a Woods single. Chappell would then single to drive in Williams. After another fielding error by Jackson State, Chappell and Woods when each score to give Southern the 3-2 lead.
