JACKSON, MISS. - The Jackson State Lady Tigers dropped a 7-5 decision to the Alcorn State Lady Braves on Saturday at the JSU Softball Complex. Jackson State grabbed an early 2-0 lead when Ebony Stevenson doubled allowing Amanda Boggan to score from first base. Alcorn State then committed several errors allowing Stevenson to come home. Alcorn State would tie the score 2-2 in the top of the third inning. The Lady Tigers would answer the call with two runs of their own to take the lead 4-2 in the bottom of the third. Alcorn State eventually took the lead, 7-4 by the top of the seventh inning. Jessica Villegas hit the lone home run of the day in the bottom of the seventh but that would not be enough for the Tigers as they fall to an overall record of 13-23. Jackson State had 11 hits and committed three errors in the contest. Despite striking out four, pitcher Brittanie Talley took the loss. Jackson State returns to action at home on Sunday at 11 a.m. to finish the last two games of their three game series with Alcorn State. |
