Baton Rouge, La.-- The Jackson State University women's indoor track and field team fell just short of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship title this weekend in Baton Rouge, La. The Lady Tigers lost a close fight with Grambling State. GSU edged Jackson State 135-130. Tayari Clay and Jemu Zarzar led the way for JSU. Clay finished in 7th place in the 60 meter dash (7.85), 2nd place in the 200 meter dash (24.99), 3rd place in the 400 (57.84). Zarzar won the 800 meter run (2:21.15), 3rd in the one mile run (5:26.23) and 3rd in the 3000 meter run (10:52.03). The 4x400 meter relay title went to the women of Jackson State. The Lady Tigers won with a time of 3:50.73. In the men's competition the JSU Tigers finished in fifth place.
