Baton Rouge, La. - The Jackson State University women's indoor track and field team finished the LSU Twilight Indoor Track meet with nine top 10 finishes Friday night. The Lady Tigers particularly excelled in the field events. Two Lady Tigers finished in the top five in the shot put. Latoya Anderson came in second place with a throw of 41-04 ¼, while Stephanie Cleave recoded a throw of 39-05 ¾. Leadrianne White led a trio of Lady Tigers who finished in the top ten in the weight throw. White recoded a distance of 45-04 ½ for sixth place. Octavia Gadson threw for a distance of 44-04 ¼ for eighth place and Deshawnn Chiles rounded out the top 10 with a throw of 39-09 ¾. Lukina Burke finished in third place in the high jump with a mark of 5-04 ½. In the 200 meter dash Tayari Clay finished in third place with a time of 25.16. Toniece Williams came in 17th place and Tanieka Hill finished in 19th place. In the 400 meter Lisa Quinn took fourth place with a personal best time of 58-42. Jemu ZarZar also came in fourth place in the mile run with a time of 5:16.37. Tunisia Milner and Adrienne Smith each claimed a top 10 finish. Milner came in 10th place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.03 and Smith grabbed a 10th place finish in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:45.15. The Lady Tigers and Tigers are set to begin the championship season as they travel to Baton Rouge for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 23-24.
