Baton Rouge, La. --- The Jackson State University women's indoor track and field team continues to have outstanding showings as five Lady Tigers posted top ten finishes at the 2007 Purple Tiger Indoor Track and Field Classic hosted by LSU. Tayari Clay came in third place in the 200 m dash with a time of 25.58 and Lisa Quinn recorded a time of 26.35 for a 10th place finish in the 200 m dash. She also came in 8th place in the long jump championships. Adrienne Smith came in sixth place in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:53.94. Kimberly Whalen captured a second place finish in the 800 m run, as she finished with a time of 2:21.60. Brittney Woodard placed in both the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump she came in fourth place with a distance of 17-07 and in the triple jump she finished with a distance of 37-07 ¾ which was good enough for sixth place. Three Lady Tigers placed in the shot put. Latoya Anderson came in fifth place with a 42-06 ¼ distance, Leadriana White came in 11th place and Stephanie Cleave finished in 19th place. Octavia Gadson was the final Lady Tiger to place as she came in 17th place in the weight throw. The Lady Tigers will return to action on Jan. 19-20 when they travel to Carbondale, IL to participate in the Saluki Booster hosted by the University of Illinois-Carbondale.
