Women's Track has 17 top ten finishes at LSU Twilight

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Jackson State women's track and field team had an overall good weekend at the LSU Twilight. JSU had 17 top ten finished during the event.

Courtney Prentiss finished ninth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.72. Lisa Quinn came in seventh place in the 400-m dash with a time of 59.07 and Candace Frye finished 20th.

Jemu ZarZar performed well in the 800-m run with a second place finish. Her time was 2:24.33. Tunisia Milner finished 6th (2:30.27), LaColony Oliver came in ninth place (2:32.19) and Kimberly Whalen and Adrienne Smith finished 16th and 17th respectively.

Smith led JSU's efforts in the 1-mile run with a third place finish. Her time was 5:37.11. Toniece Williams and Marlisa Hamlett finished fifth and sixth in the 60-m hurdles with time of 9.00 and 9.10. Frye rounded out the top ten with a time of 9.62.

Equondra Netters was fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.13 meters. Hamlett was eighth in the triple jump (10.80 m) and Tayari Clay finished 11th in the long jump.

Three Lady Tigers placed in the top ten in the shot put. Danielle Miller finished third with a distance of 13.27 m, Stephanie Cleave was sixth (12.48), and Leadrianne White finished 9th (11.47). White led JSU in the weight throw with fourth place finish. Her best throw was 14.64 m. Deshawnn Chiles was sixth (14.29), and Cleave finished eighth (13.31).
