Shasta Averyhardt leads the Lady Tigers

ATHENS, Ga. - Windy conditions at the University of Georgia Golf Course did not help Jackson State, or many other teams, at the NCAA East Regional Friday. While the Lady Tigers again languished at the bottom of standings in the 21-team field, several individuals were able to play better during the second day of the tournament.

Shasta Averyhardt shot a 5-over 77, six shots better than her opening round performance, to pace the Lady Tigers. Her 16-over 160 is tied for 83rd - 12 spots better than where she was after day one.

Nikeya Peay and Jennifer Sells also did better on the second day of competition. Sells cut two shots off her first-day 85 and has a two-day total of 168. Peay did even better, boosting her score by three shots with a 91 on Friday and 185 total for both days.

While Mirielle LaBlanc (83-85-168) and Lauren Ragland (87-88-175) had a little more difficulty during the second day of competition, Jackson State was able to cut five shots off its first day score - something nine of the top 10 teams were unable to do.

Jackson State will tee-off in the final day of the tournament at 12:20 p.m., hoping to continue its improvement on the scoreboard.
