JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State men's tennis team improved to a 12-5 record with a 6-1 victory over Millsaps College Tuesday afternoon. JSU took two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches. Campbell Hughes and Tim Shoptogh beat Brandon Nelson and Nicholas Crawford 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Yacouba Treore and Arturo Jiminez defeated Chris Rolen and Trevor Harris 8-1 at No. 2 and Sergio Salinas and Alejandro Martinez beat Murphy Parker and Wes Hill 8-2 at No. 3. Parker beat Nelson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 for Millsaps only singles win. At No. 2 Martinez beat Hughes 6-4, 5-7, 10-5. Treore beat Shoptogh 6-1, 6-2 (No. 3), Salinas beat Rolen 6-2, 6-1 (No. 4), Jiminez beat Hill 6-1, 6-1 (No. 5), and Crawford beat Harris 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 (No. 6). |
