CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Jackson State men's golf team shot a 302 in a rain soaked first round of the NCAA East Regional at Council Fire Golf Club on Thursday. After playing through a light drizzle for most of the morning the Tigers finished the final three holes in a steady downpour. Michael Bailey and Brett Benson each shot an even par 71. Both players are tied for 46th place on the individual leader board. Albert Kilgore, III shot a 7-over 78, Reginald Newton recorded an 11-over 82 and James Cox had a 14-over 85. The top 10 teams at each of the three NCAA Regionals will make up the field for the NCAA Championship May 28-31 in West LaFayette, Ind. The 54-hole tournament will continue on Friday and will conclude on Saturday. The Tigers are scheduled to tee off at 12:55 p.m. on Friday.
