Birmingham, Ala. - In the final round of the 2007 `Southern Showdown at Oxmore Valley Golf Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail the JSU men's golf team shot a 313 to finish with a 945 team score.

The Tigers tied for seventh place with host school Birmingham Southern. Berry College finished with an 886 team score to capture first place in the tournament. Lipscomb had an 893 for second place followed by Tennessee Tech in third with an 897. Evansville was fourth with a 929 and Savannah State was fifth with a 934. Faulkner came in sixth place with a 935. Tennessee State (949), Montevallo (955), Berry College JV (969) and Faulkner JV (992) closed out the 12-team field.

Albert Kilgore, III and Michael Bailey each finished in the top 25 for individuals. Kilgore came in 13th place, shooting a 227, and Bailey tied for 19th, shooting a 232. Reggie Newton tied for 51st place (245), James Cox, Jr. came in 56th place (247) and Sebastian Lopez tied for 61st place (252).

Jackson State will return to Sept. 27 for the 2007 Coca Cola Classic held in Atlanta, GA.
