JSU will open the season on Aug. 31 for the MEAC/SWAC Challenge

JSU will open the season on Aug. 31 for the MEAC/SWAC Challenge

Aug. 16, 2008

In the early parts of Jackson State's second scrimmage, the Dark Side Defense looked as dominant as it has all of preseason camp, but the Tigers offense showed flashes.

During the first 45 minutes of the scrimmage the defense kept the offensive unit from moving the ball. However, the Tigers offense did make some big plays.

Scrimmage Highlights: Offense: Trae Rutland scored a TD on a QB keeper, Michael Mosley scored on a QB sneak, Teravious Mitchell scored a TD on the ground, Demario Pippen scored a rushing TD, Dominick Britt connected with Anthony Mayes for a passing TD, Carlos Simpson caught a 68-yard pass from Rutland, Marsellos Wilder hauled in a 25-yard pass from Rutland.

Defense: Marcus Smith recorded a sack, Terrence Banks recorded a sack, Tim Clark made an interception. JSU will return to the practice field Sunday at 11 a.m.
