JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State University men's basketball team won its final exhibition game of the 2007-08 pre-season by defeating the Miles College Golden Bears 68-65 Thursday night at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center. Darrion Griffin came off the bench to score a team high 17 points. Garrison Johnson scored 14 points and Jeremy Caldwell recorded a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Miles' Flawaan Flaggs scored a game high 28 points. Leon McKinney followed with nine. Neither team shot particularly well as Miles connected at a 38% rate from the field and JSU shot 35%. JSU made up the difference in free throws, connecting on 20-27 while Miles made 9-18. JSU took a 34-23 lead into halftime and held on down the stretch. The Tigers will open the 2007-08 regular season with a road game against Baylor on Sunday, Nov. 11. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
