Dec. 27, 2007 FT WORTH, TX - Despite a game-high 17 points from Darrion Griffin the Jackson State men's basketball team lost a hard fought contest to the Texas Christian University Frogs in the Tigers' final non-conference game of the season Thursday night. TCU improved to an 8-3 record with the 79-68 win. JSU falls to a 2-11 mark. Griffin also grabbed three rebounds to go along with his 17 points. He went 7-10 from the field and 2-2 from three-point range. Grant Maxey was JSU's other double-digit scorer with 17 points. He also pulled down seven rebounds and dished out four assists. Henry Salter led the Frogs in scoring with 16 points. Avardo Parker followed with 15 points. JSU held a two-point advantage at the 7:15 mark in the first period, but was not able to hold on to the lead as TCU took a 39-28 lead into halftime. In the second half JSU played even with TCU, with each team scoring 40 points. For the game JSU was out rebounded 45-40. The Tigers shot 41 percent from the field (28-67) and TCU shot 41 percent (26-62). The difference in scoring came from the free throw line. JSU shot 45 percent from the line (5-11), while TCU connected at a 71 percent rate (22-31). The Tigers will return to action Jan. 5 when Alabama A&M visits the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center on the JSU campus. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
