DENTON, TX - Despite a game high 19 points and four rebounds from Garrison Johnson the Jackson State men's basketball team fell 68-58 to the North Texas Mean Green Tuesday night at the Super Pit. Johnson went 4-11 from the field and 10-15 from the free throw line in scoring his 19 points. De'Suan Dixon followed with 13 points. Tyrone Hanson added nine points on 4-15 shooting. Three Mean Green players scored in double figures. Eric Tramiel led North Texas with 15 points and George Odufuwa and Richard Thomas each added 11 points. For the game JSU shot 35.6% from the field (21-59) and North Texas shot 44% (22-50). The Mean Green took a 30-23 lead into halftime. Jackson State cut the Mean Green lead down to 52-51 with 5:09 remaining in the game on a Dixon three-pointer. The Tigers continued to stay within seven points of the Mean Green until the 50 second mark in the game when North Texas built the lead back to 10 points.
Jackson State will return to action Dec. 2 when the Tigers face Stephen F. Austin at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
