LAS VEGAS, NV - The Jackson State University men's basketball dropped its fifth game of the season, falling 73-57 in the third game of the Las Vegas Invitational played at the Orleans. With the loss JSU falls to 0-5 and Hartford improves to 1-4. The Tigers played well in the first half and trailed 38-32 at halftime. Jackson State shot 52 percent from the field (13-25) and 60 percent from the free throw line (3-9). Hartford connected on 41 percent of its shot attempts (14-34) and 77 percent from the line (7-9). Hartford put the game out of reach in the second half, outscoring the Tigers by 10 points. Three Tigers scored in double figures. Grant Maxey led JSU with 14 points and three rebounds. Catraiva Givens scored 13 points and grabbed three rebounds and Darrion Griffin finished with 10 points and five boards. For the game JSU shot 40 percent from the field (21-52), 27 percent in three-pointers (6-22) and 69 percent from the free throw line (9-13). Joe Zeglinski led Hartford with 15 points, Warren McLendon added 14, Michael Turner chipped in 12 and Morgan Sabia scored 10 points. Hartford shot 44 percent from the floor (26-59), 26 percent in threes (7-26) and 82 percent from the line (14-17). Jackson State will return to action Saturday, Nov. 24 for the final round of the Las Vegas Invitational. The Tigers will face Iona (0-5). Tip off is set for 3 p.m. (CST).
