Nov. 17, 2007 PROVO, UT - The Jackson State University men's basketball dropped to a 0-3 record as the Tigers fell 100-61 to the BYU Cougars at the Marriott Center in the opening round of the Las Vegas Invitational. Freshman Chris Hyche was the only Tiger to reach double-digit scoring with 12 points on 5-11 shooting. Grant Maxey followed with nine points on 4-11 shooting. Five Cougars scored in double figures. Trent Plaisted led BYU with 21 points, Michael Loyd added 15, Lee Cummard scored 14, Jonathan Tavernari chipped in 13 and Vuk Ivanovic contributed 10. JSU jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, but the Cougars slowly chipped away at the lead and eventually a double digit lead. The Tigers trailed 41-29 at halftime. BYU opened the second half with a 23-4 run over the first six minutes of the period. JSU was outscored 59-32 in the second half. The Tigers will return to action Nov. 18 to face the University of Louisville for the second round of the Las Vegas Invitational. Tip off is set for 1:30 p.m. at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY.
