MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Jackson State men's basketball team lost its final game of the regular season, falling 103-83 to the Alabama State Hornets. Grant Maxey led JSU's scoring effort with 21 points, on 8-13 shooting. He also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Darrion Griffin followed with 19 points, Catraiva Givens added 16 and Garrison Johnson scored 11. Chief Kickingstallionsims led ASU with 22 points on 9-12 shooting. Jackson State (10-8 SWAC, 12-19) trailed 56-42 at halftime. For the game the Tigers shot 42 percent from the field (28-66) and 58 percent from the free throw line (21-37). Alabama State shot 56 percent from the field (37-66) and 57 percent from the line (16-28). Jackson State will return to action during the 2008 Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament in Birmingham, Ala. Mar. 12-15 as the No. 4 seed. |
