JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State Tigers baseball team dropped the final game of a weekend three game series with the North Carolina A&T Aggies Saturday afternoon at the JSU Baseball Complex. North Carolina A&T won 21-4. With the loss JSU falls to 36-19 overall record and North Carolina A&T improves to a 27-27 mark. The Aggies got on the scoreboard first, scoring two runs in the first inning. NCA&T opened an 11-1 lead, scoring nine runs in the second and third innings. JSU got on the scoreboard at the bottom of the second, as Cortez COLE doubled to get on base and scored on a wild pitch. In the fourth inning the Aggies scored three more runs and four in the fifth to make the score 18-1. JSU cut into NCA&T's lead with a three run fifth. Enrique Quintero, Pernell HALLIMAN and Chad HALL all scored for the Tigers. NCA&T scored the final three runs of the game in the sixth inning to make the final score 21-4. The Aggies finished with 16 hits and JSU had eight. Marquise ZACHARY suffered the loss for Jackson State. He pitched two innings and gave up seven runs and seven hits. Marquis Frink got the win. In six innings of work he allowed four runs on eight hit. Jeremy Jones led NCA&T's offense going 3-4 with five runs, five RBI and three home runs. Cole and Quintero led JSU offensively, recording two hits and a run each. JSU will return to action May 14 for the 2008 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Championships in Baton Rouge, LA. |
