HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Jackson State baseball team improved to an 8-6 record, as the Tigers defeated Alabama A&M 8-2 and 10-7 in a double header Sunday afternoon. Jackson State opened the first game of the series with a five run first inning. JSU added insurance runs in the second, sixth and seventh innings. Charles WILLIAMS pitched five innings for the win. He gave up five hits and two runs, while striking out three batters. Brionne JONES led JSU's offense going 3-3 with two runs and five RBI. Cortez COLE had two hits, a run and a RBI. One of his hits was a home run. In the nightcap the game was tied 5-5 in the third inning. JSU took a one run lead in the fourth and added four in the seventh inning. Alabama A&M scored two runs in the seventh, but JSU Marquise ZACHARY held on for the win. Zachary pitched seven innings and gavme up six hits, while striking out five batters. Derek Johnson had two hits a run and a RBI. Jamaal Thelwell had two hits and three runs. Chad HALL recorded the only home run for the game. |
